What is Drupal
Drupal is a cost effective, highly flexible and powerful, open source content management system. Drupal allows for feature rich websites, has a good track record for being secure, and has thousands of community-developed add-ons that are free to use.
Why use Drupal
Though suitable for a wide variety of website, Drupal really excels when you have a tight timeframe and need lots of functionality. Drupal is modular with a large library of add-ons; this creates a highly extensible framework which can be used for a wide variety of websites ranging from small business ecommerce sites, to corporate and Government agency transactional and informational sites.
A key strength of Drupal is that it is reasonably straightforward for developers to work with as it is built on a commonly used technology stack (PHP and MySQL). That is, as long as developers follow particular development practises. This means with Drupal, Signify can achieve results, in short time frames.
Drupal is particularly suited for sites that:
- have challenging delivery time frames;
- need traditional open source hosting environments;
- need to support many concurrently logged-in users;
- require sophisticated workflows;
- need to be be integrated with other systems (e.g. Active Directory, LDAP).
