State Service Commission Rebrand

SSC approached us wanting to improve the look and feel of their website and to make some of the content easier to use.

The Problem

A couple of years after we redeveloped the State Services Commission website on a Drupal CMS platform, the Commission approached us wanting to improve the look and feel of the website and make some of the content easier to use.

What We Did

The project was scoped as a “re-skin” of the existing site - the content and page structure would remain largely the same, but a new design would change the look of these elements. We would also bring the site up to modern standards by developing it responsively, to adjust to display on phone and tablet devices as well as desktop.

Our design partner, Mission Hall Creative, produced the final design for us to build from. We worked closely with them, especially around scaling the site to smaller mobile device screens.

Overall the new design:

  • introduced more engaging imagery
  • simplified the main navigation and the previous “mega footer”
  • removed clutter (text-snippets) from page content (header and sidebars)
  • improved readability, with more whitespace and larger text

Signify used the designs from Mission Hall to build and integrate the new SSC theme into its existing Drupal website.

Technology Used

We used HTML5, CSS3 and CSS media queries to build a responsive mobile friendly theme.
